Ethiopia: Journey to a new life for Toto
It is estimated that there are 750,000 street dogs in Addis Ababa, the capitol of Ethiopia. As two telecommunication employees left their office a few weeks ago, they encountered a shocking sight--several boys attacking a dog with stones. They stopped the boys and rescued the dog.

Helping the helpless
They were once abandoned, thrown into a deep pit outside Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, and left to die. Now thanks to a Houston emergency room physician, the four "cave dogs of Ethiopia" are in Houston and ready for a new life.

Local doctor saves dogs a world away
There's an amazing story of survival, but in this story, the end is still being written. A number of "cave dogs" of Ethiopia are in Houston, putting a face on the plight of unwanted animals here and around the world. A Houston doctor who saves lives in emergency rooms is now saving the lives of pets in his homeland.

Ethiopia: "Life is about helping"
Today, Dr. Roba is a busy emergency room physician at a Houston Hospital. He has chosen to practice in the emergency room because "those are the people who most need help. They have no resources, no insurance, nowhere to go--so they go to the emergency room. I've always been for the underdog," he adds.
